I love helping people reach their full potential to feel good about themselves. Watching transformations. 

What do you like to do in your free time? 
I love to go boating with my family and friends, or spend quality time with my nieces. I also love going to small concerts on the lake or take small trips to go see bigger concerts.

KC Royals, forever a Royals fan! Was born in Kansas City.

The first time I was every at Serenity Medical Spa I was 14, and all my friends and I were getting facials (I was friends with Dr. A's daughter) and 3 years later, I was called in for an interview! They must have saw something in me when I was only 14!

Get To Know Serenity Medical Spa's Staff (part 2)

We recieved a large, very wonderful response to our blog last week letting you get to know Lindsey and Janice a little better.  Today your favorite medical spa at the Lake of the Ozarks is featuring our beloved Dr. Debbie Atkinson. 

Dr. Atkinson graduated from Tulane University and the University of Colorado Medical School.  She is a member of the Liquid Face Lift Association, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, AAFP, and has attended the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine conferences.

How long have you been in your field of expertise? 

10 years doing aesthetics and 19 years as an MD practicing family medicine. 

What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks?
I wanted to live in the Midwest in a small town to raise my family with security, great life style and the opportunities of water experiences for my children. 

Where did you grow up? 
Elementary school was Houston TX and JR high and high school in Iowa City, Iowa 

Tell us about your family.
Remarried to Neil (highway patrolman) with 4 kids (Braden 20, Rachel 19, Kelsey 17, and Courtney 17) 2 dogs (Max and Sadie) and 1 cat (Chance) 

What is your favorite thing about the medical spa business? 
Having time to be with people, giving them the education to be better versions of themselves inside and out. 

What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies? 
hiking, reading, playing piano, and working with barn wood to make home decor projects 

Where is your favorite spot at the Lake?
Anywhere I can sit, have a glass of wine, and watch the sun go down. 

If you were an animated or movie character, who would you be and why? 
Scarlett O'Hara - I love her stubbornness, strength, and determination to rise above any situation , even with all her own personality flaws. "After all, tomorrow is another day." 

What did you want to grow up to be when you were a kid? 
Always wanted to be a doctor. 

If you could live anywhere in the entire world, where would you go?
Montana to live in a valley between mountain ridges.

Get To Know Serenity Medical Spa's Staff (part 1)

The best medical spa the at the Lake of the Ozarks achieves its high level of excellence because of the incredible people that work there.  Over the next few weeks, you will get a chance to learn a little more about the wonderful women that will be taking excellent care of you when you visit Serenity Medical Spa.

Today is all about co-owners Lindsey and Janice.    

Lindsey Eveler

Lindsey began her apprenticeship under Janice in 2003. She then attended the Swiss Laboratory Methode Physiodermie in Montreal, Canada, for advanced training. Lindsey, along with Janice, re-opened Serenity Medical Spa in Lake Ozark in August 2009.

How long have you been in your field of expertise? 

11 Years

What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks? 

The chance to be a partner at the most beautiful spa at the lake, Serenity Medical Spa 

Where did you grow up?
Outside of Jefferson City, in a small town called Centertown.

If you were an animated or movie character, who would you be and why?
Snow White, because I love animals and I am looking for Prince Charming! 

What food do you absolutely refuse to eat?

Janice tried to get me to eat sardines once, because fish oils are good for your skin, but I just couldn't do it!

Janice Kayden

Janice, a graduate of Roedel Institute of Beauty, began her career as a cosmetologist in 1978. While owning a successful salon (La Sienne) in Jefferson City she came to realize her love for skin care. Janice furthered her training at the Sylvie Hennessy Academy of Esthetics, and began practicing solely esthetics in 1994.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Play Golf

What motivates you in life? In business? 

Helping to develop people in the spa field, and I always want to make people pretty.

If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would you go?

Barcelona

Do you have any strange, interesting, or just cool stories about Serenity Medical Spa? 

When Lindsey and I first purchased Serenity, we lived in Jefferson City. we worked such long hours that we would sleep overnight at the spa on the massage tables. Yes, we took showers lol!

The Physician Services of Serenity Medical Spa

We told you all about the medical skincare treatments that we offer at our Lake of the Ozarks medical spa a couple of weeks ago, and today we are featuring our Physician Services.  Just like with our medical skincare, these treatments cannot be found at a traditional day spa because they require a medical doctor.  All of these services at Serenity Medical Spa are performed by or under the supervision of our very own board certified Dr. Debra Atkinson.  


Sclerotherapy®
Asclera® injection is a prescription medicine that is used in a procedure called sclerotherapy to remove unwanted veins on your legs. It is used to treat two types of veins: uncomplicated spider veins and small varicose veins.

Hormone Therapy
If you are struggling with fatigue, sleep difficulties, hot flashes or weight, then it may be time to get answers. Hormonal issues, stress, poor lifestyle choices, and vitamin deficiencies can all contribute to these symptoms. Evaluation of health history and possible laboratory tests can help get you in control again.

Acne Scarring Treatment
In addition to acute acne control and maintenance, treatment for various forms of acne scars are available dependant on the type and duration of the scars. Various treatments including chemical peels, TCA treatment, subscisions, and/or filler injections can be used to diminish the appearance of depressed scars.  

A consultation is required.

Skin Cancer Screening
Sun exposure causes premature aging of the skin and can lead to development of precancerous and cancerous skin lesions, depending on genetic makeup of your skin, family history, and frequency of sunburns as a child. Most people should start with yearly skin checks by the late 20’s. Skin checks and appropriate management of lesions are available at Serenity Medical Spa.

Cryotherapy
Removal of warts, skin tags, or scaly brown spots on the face or body can be obtained with freezing these growths with a cyrogenic gas mixture.

Excisions
Simple shave excisions can be performed to minimize the appearance or irritation of skin spots that would benefit cosmetically by removal.
